Music Monday: Mike Rogge
2/8/2010I've been on the road for 3 weeks and I think I'm starting to get sick. Apparently a steady diet of Totinos (an official sponsor of the 2009-2010 Winter Dew Tour) and PBR isn't great for you. Oh well. Let's rock out! Here's some tracks and some beats I've been listening to on planes, cabs, airports, hotel lobbies, and Dan Brown's car. Traveling is fun but there's certainly no place like home. It's good to be back East.

Top 5 songs I'm listening to (in no particular order):
-Miley Cyrous – Hathbanger
-Ignant Shit (feat. Lil Wayne) - Drake
-4 Songs and a Fight – The Sounds
-Who Says – John Mayer
-Dirty Work – Steely Dan
The song that reminds me of skiing the most is: always changing. I’m a big fan of feel-good edits that compliment the skier’s ability, style, and story. Right now, I’d have to go with Chiddy Bang’s “Kids (feat MGMT).” Leigh Powis used it in an early season edit and I’ve been a fan ever since.
You might be surprised to know, I have a lot of Frank Sinatra in my music library. Old Blue Eyes is great to listen to on that dark drive home from the mountain.
If I had the closing segment in a ski film, my segment song would be: Over The Hills and Far Away by Led Zeppelin. Aside from having the perfect name for ski film, it has about a minute and ½ of acoustic build up followed by some slamming Page/Plant rock and rolling.
A local music act that I'm listening to is: Joshua Panda. Every Tuesday night in Burlington, I check out the Book‘em Blue Band at Nectars (by Vermont law, I’m required to inform you Nectar’s is the birthplace of the band Phish). Book’em attracts an eclectic crowd and many local musician that occasionally sit in with the band. One sit in, the aforementioned Joshua Panada, has vocals that would put any of the so-called American Idols to shame. Plus any guy that can rock a flannel and sip a PBR during Book’em’s solos is alright by me.
Even though no one listens to albums anymore, one album I recommend listening to is: Abbey Road by The Beatles. I become more of a fan with ever listen. In fact, I’m to it while I type this sentence.

I agree with the Ol' Blue Eyes call - I have a pretty good collection myself - Original Gangster.
"That's Life" - epic call and response diddy.
