Electric Slides: Episode III
5/17/2010Video by Nathan Steinbauer
Words by Erme Catino
So they say in Maine: “Ya can’t git theah frum heeeah.” In our case, East Coast springtime was more like, “You can’t get new snow from here.” That’s why in mid April, when we saw our VT snowpack dwindling and Maine on tap for a healthy storm, we rolled the dice, hopped in the car at 5am, and put the pedal down.
Saddleback had recently closed down for the season, but still hung onto a wicked schweet base. So with over a foot of freshies in the upper elevations, Nate and I were treated to some fluffy spring pow. And in typical Maine fashion, we encountered swamp donkeys (moose), burning trash piles, and drank some apre Geary’s Ale. Most excellent.
For some odd reason, late April/ early May was loaded with some of the best new snow this winter. This Maine weathah was the first of 3 spring storms, although it would be our last time filming as we enjoyed the rest in undocumented glory. Hope you sampled at least one of those storms and scored some turns!
This will be the last installment of the webisode for the year, but we’ll see you next season as Electric Slides brings you more adventures with power lines, backcountry touring, and road trips in search of the elusive Eastern powder stash. Have a great summer, or perhaps, endless winter.
Big thanks to everyone who checked out our episodes. And a very special thanks to all those supporting our vision:
