Remember back in March when it was 80F and we held the first SkiTheEast.net night at Bolton Valley? Well it was fun. And warm. As part of the deal we raffled off a 2012-2013 season pass to Bolton Valley to one of our 2000ish website members. Oh, you're not a member, then sign up slacker. We'll have more of these next season!
As drawn by random.org the winner of the season pass was member #896 Bradly J* from Brockton, Mass. Rather than just send him a voucher in the mail, we figured it was only fair to introduce the winner to the rest of the gang. Everyone's got a ski story. This is Bradly J*'s. Still not sure what the asterisk* is about.
So Brad, you won a free season pass to Bolton Valley just for being a member of SkiTheEast.net. What was your first thought when you got your mind around that?
I thought it was so cool. I'm so excited for next season even more now.
Tell us about where you learned to ski. Who taught you?
I learned to ski at Pats Peak, my girlfriend taught me, and she's a snowboarder who just said go, don't fall, and make sure you turn every once and a while.
Describe your typical ski day.
My typical ski day starts at 6 a.m. or earlier if we gotta drive up to the mountain. Usually go for first chair, then ski hard all day with as few stops as possible. Typcially just a quick lunch and go until last chair. Sometimes we hang out for apres then a nice big dinner. Lastly, I try and get to bed somewhat early to be ready to do it all over again.
How many days a year do you typically get – and where?
Around 25 days. Most days are at Loon, then a lot of southern NH trips on weekends.
If you could change one thing about skiing, what would it be and why?
Faster lifts and shorter lines. I hate waiting.
Favorite Meathead Films ski flick?
Craziest thing you've ever witnessed while skiing?
I saw a gorilla wearing a sombrero speaking spanish shredding the park at Loon.
