Mount Snow Resort hosted the 5th Annual Carinthia Open on Saturday with more than 110 professional and amateur skiers and riders taking on a slopestyle course in The Gulch; one of the eight terrain parks at Mount Snow's extensive Carinthia parkland. Top amateurs went home with prizes from event sponsors and top professionals will now be cashing checks they earned from part of the $10,000 pool.
In front of a goggle tanning crowd on St. Patrick's Day, competitors threw technical tricks on the rail section at the top of the course and selected from the three 45-55 foot kickers at the bottom of the course. Vermonter Dale Talkington took first in the pro men's ski division, Jamie Crane-Mauzy won the women's pro ski division and Cody Ellison stood atop the podium for the men's pro snowboarders.
The Carinthia Open is an Association of Freeskiing Professionals (AFP) Bronze Certified Event and is open to male and female skiers and riders at the professional and amateur levels.
