Double Decade
We began Ski The East in 2005 with some simple ideas: showcase the incredible terrain and athletes in our region and unite the East Coast ski community. We share a common identity, a storied history, and unshakable optimism.
- Geoff, co-founder
Our college bud Joe Morabito dropping in for one of our first Meathead Films movies: Born From Ice (a title that is now our official Ski The East mantra!)
Snow Gods was our first large scale autumn movie tour and the film featured Harley riding mullet man mogul master: Randy "The Hammer" Grasso
Ski The East started to design some more custom pieces beyond just basic hoodies, tees, and headwear
We invested in some 16mm and Super 8mm film cameras to capture the mood and flow of East Coast skiing
Wild Stallions was a breakout movie for us: nominated for Movie of the Year at Powder Magazine Video Awards
Lots of backcountry exploration in the Chic Chocs and NH, including a near-perfect day on the backside of Mt. Washington for our movie: Work It Out
Prime Cut was our 10th Meathead movie and we went hard all around the region with so many amazing skiers including QC native and X Games gold medalist Charles Gagnier above
Our "big" mountain Freeride events were selling out at the 4 regional peaks that hosted them, being the first and only extreme competition series in the East
This is the year that Meathead Films fully transitioned into Ski The East and we started working harder on our clothing designs and digital web series for Youtube
Ben Leoni produced "Working For The Weekend" web series for Ski The East starting in this year, focused solely on backcountry shredding
Our longtime supporters, Subaru of New England, helped us navigate the deepest winter in Boston history while filming a street skiing segment
Our first fleece pieces were dropped this season along with tons of new colors and graphics in our core apparel collection
The Ski The East team grew from our first social media manager (Alex Kaufman, foreground) to include many more rad shredders
We experimented with grass skiing in the off-season and it was steep, deep, and weedy
Ski The East apparel became much more complex and detailed once we partnered with some trained technical designers (Ashlie Malouin, foreground) and used Fair Trade USA for sourcing top tier manufacturers
We moved offices from Williston, back to where it all began in Burlington, VT
A previous favorite, we brought back baselayers once we found a manufacturer that could meet our design specifications and construction requirements
We opened our Flagship Retail store (and a bar 🍺) with legendary Jason Levinthal of J Skis on Main St. in Burlington
The Killington glacier provided amazing skiing deep into May as Jake Whitlock can attest
Our Hazy Mountain IPA collab beer with Long Trail brewing became a regional bestseller
Stoked to still be living the dream, designing products we're super proud of, and helping to Keep The Shred Alive for East Coast skiing!
